Dissemination activities in Rijeka pilot site: Public Health Conference “Kajetan Blečić: Healthy People in a Healthy Environment”, 10 – 12 April 2025

At the Public Health Conference “Kajetan Blečić: Healthy people in a healthy environment”, organised by the Teaching Institute of Public Helath of Primorje-Gorski Kotar County and held in Rijeka from 10 to 12 April 2025. At the conference, which took place in Rijeka from 10 to 12 April 2025, the members of the MEDRI research team – Lovorka Bilajac, Lorena Hlača and Denis Juraga – gave their presentations related to the results of the Barometer of the Health of Rijeka citizens and the overview of the interventions of the HORUS project (GA No. 101136516) in the pilot site Rijeka.

Lovorka Bilajac (Figure 1) had a presentation with the theme “Health literacy as a key to promoting physical activity: from information to action”, in which she addressed the key role of health literacy in promoting physical activity and highlighted its potential to help people overcome common barriers and adopt a healthier lifestyle. She presented the results of the HORUS project, which show that targeted interventions are needed in Rijeka to increase citizens’ physical activity and improve their health literacy.

The topic of the presentation held by Lorena Hlača (Figure 3) was “Dietary habits and health status of the residents of the city of Rijeka: Tailoring intervention pathways in the HORUS project”.  Lorena presented the results of the survey “Barometer of Health of Residents of the City of Rijeka” including dietary habits, frequency of consumption of different food groups, body mass index (BMI), body image and presence of chronic diseases which will serve as a basis for future interventions within the HORUS project. Lorena also spoke about the nutrition intervention plan and roadmap for Rijeka pilot site which includes personalized meal plan, nutrition lectures and cooking classes.

Denis Juraga (Figure 4) presented the behavioural interventions for urban health within the project HORUS. During the presentation, Denis Juraga presented the behavioural interventions for urban health as part of the HORUS project. During the presentation, Denis Juraga described the Social Ecological Model, the Transtheoretical behaviour change approach supported by motivational interviewing as the theoretical basis for the implementation of the intervention phase of the project. In addition, the neighborhoods in which the interventions will be carried out and the intervention pathways were also presented.
