HORUS and PALLIAKID: sister initiatives

HORUS is honoured to announce that PALLIAKID is our sister initiative.

An initiative dedicated to the needs of children with palliative care and their family caregivers. A way to help them in such a difficult time.

PALLIAKID is an interdisciplinary project, funded by the European Union and supported by Innovate UK, that aims to evaluate the feasibility, effectiveness and cost-effectiveness of novel interventions for children, adolescents and young adults (AYA) with palliative and end-of-life care needs in different healthcare systems in Europe, focusing on those factors that influence the engagement of active patients and family caregivers.

This project has three main outputs: PALLIAKID Earinge Screening System; PALLIAKID intervention (needs assessment, advance care planning and Patient Journey digital platform); and training programme for professionals based on PALLIAKID XR.

In addition, the project will develop policy recommendations, guidelines and standards for patient-centred communication, along with a scaling-up strategy to ensure sustainability and impact of the project results.

This project is coordinated by the Fundacio Privada Per a la Recerca I la Docencia Sant Joan de Deu in Spain, together with a consortium of 19 organisations from 10 European countries.
