This month, the HORUS – Urban Health consortium gathered in Rijeka, Croatia, for our third in-person meeting — hosted by our partners at MEDRI.
This two-day meeting allowed us to reflect on the progress we’ve made, exchange updates from all work packages, and align on the next steps as we move into the heart of the project’s implementation phase.
We discussed key developments from each of the three pilots — Rijeka, Rotterdam, and Valencia — and reviewed the early outcomes and challenges in the rollout of local interventions. It was also a valuable opportunity to delve into communication strategies, data coordination, citizen participation methodologies, and scientific dissemination efforts.
A highlight of the meeting was the presence of HaDEA Policy Officer Nerea Aizpurua, who joined us to support the project and share insights from the European Commission.
These meetings are not only about reporting progress — they are also about creating space for open dialogue, shared learning, and collaboration across disciplines and countries, all with a shared vision: to promote healthier, more equitable cities across Europe.
This consortium meeting was followed by the 12th Symposium of Public Health held in Rijeka, where we continued the conversation around urban health in a broader scientific and professional setting.
