April 7, 2024 is World Health Day, which was officially proclaimed in 1946, when representatives of different members of the United Nations and other nations signed the Constitution of the World Health Organization (WHO) with the aim of addressing all health issues worldwide. The theme of World Health Day 2024 is “My Health, My Right”, which aims to emphasize the universal right of all people to quality healthcare, as well as quality health education and information.
On this day we would like to highlight the HORUS project, funded by the Horizon Europe program, and focused on addressing non-communicable diseases (NCDs), exploring the causal relationship between urban built environments and the existence of NCD risk behaviors and implementing interventions aimed at promoting healthy lifestyles thus contributing to reduce NCDs.
HORUS is aware of the relationship between vulnerability and health and therefore focuses its efforts on promoting the health of vulnerable population groups such as low-income communities, migrants and ethnic minorities. The development of interventions aimed at promoting behavioral changes towards healthy lifestyles will allow these populations to improve their use of the urban environment in which they live, thus contributing to the reduction of NCDs.
