On March 20th, 2024. Presss conference was held at Faculty of Medicine, University of Rijeka, Croatia, to present the european Horizon project „Health Outcomes from Raised Urban Settings“ –HORUS to the general population in Rijeka via media channels, with the project Consortium structure and the main project objectives and goals and the upcoming activities of the MEDRI research team in pilot site Rijeka.
Professor Vanja Vasiljev, pilot site leader and WP4 leader from Department of Social Medicine and Epidemiology, Faculty of Medicine, University of Rijeka introduced the main objective of the HORUS project: to reduce the prevalence of non-communicable diseases (NCDs) in vulnerable populations by promoting healthy lifestyles and optimising the use of the urban environments. Three pilot sites are included in the study: Valencia (Spain), Rotterdam (Netherlands) and Rijeka (Croatia) with the total of 900 participants, of which pilot site Rijeka should include 300 participants (150 in control and 150 in intervention group).
The conference was the opportunity and excellent tool to invite citizens (18+) to fill in the anonymous questionnaire Health barometer of the citizens in Rijeka. With the support of the City of Rijeka, the invitation letter was sent to 66.000 addresses to our citizens.
The questionnaire was available through web link: https://forms.office.com/e/Ecb4b37c01 or QR code.
The results of the questionnaire of pilot cities involved in the project are required for the processing of the project work package 2 (WP2)_Identifying and measuring the association between urban environment features and NCDs (Task T2.1. Identification of urban interventions and T.2.2. Characterisation of urban environments).
Mrs. Karla Mušković, MD, and Assoc. Professor Sandra Pavičić Žeželj attended the conference fully supporting project activities which aim is improving human health. Special thanks go to the City of Rijeka who recognized the importance of the HORUS project.
