The HORUS pilot in Rotterdam has officially started its community activities with weekly walking sessions in Park De Twee Heuvels, located in the IJsselmonde neighbourhood.
Every Wednesday morning, a loyal group of participants joins the local HORUS team for a one-hour walk through the park. While the sessions promote physical activity and healthier routines, they are also becoming an important opportunity for social connection within the community.
The walks create a relaxed and welcoming environment where participants can meet neighbours, share conversations and spend time together outdoors. Each session starts and ends at a local neighbourhood centre, a familiar and accessible space for the community, where participants usually continue socialising over tea and coffee once the walk is finished.
These activities reflect one of the core objectives of HORUS: understanding how urban environments and community-based initiatives can support healthier lifestyles and overall well-being in everyday life.
