We live in an ever-growing world with ever-expanding cities, which makes it increasingly important not to lose sight of the importance of taking care of our health both inside and outside the home.
Although the HORUS project focuses mainly on Europe, all regions of the world need to address NCDs , especially diabetes and cardiovascular diseases, as they are the leading causes of morbidity and mortality worldwide.
Therefore, the World Health Organization has called on countries in the South-East Asia Region to strengthen policies to promote healthy diets and physical activity to combat rising levels of overweight, obesity and NCDs, as NCDs are also a leading cause of mortality in the Region.
This concern stems from the fact that this region is experiencing rapid urbanisation and economic growth , a perfect time to analyse whether the growth of cities is the right one, to make healthy cities that promote physical activity and less sedentary lifestyles.
