Healthy Cities presented at the World Urban Forum 2026

On 19 May 2026, the Healthy Cities initiative was presented at the World Urban Forum (WUF13) as part of the Special Session “Pulse of Healthy Homes: Healthy homes are the foundation of healthy cities, are we investing enough?”

The session explored the strong links between housing, health and urban resilience, bringing together policymakers, city leaders, public health experts and urban practitioners to discuss how homes and neighbourhoods can better support physical and mental well-being.

Among the speakers was Sebastiaan van Herk, Co-founder of Healthy Cities, who contributed to the discussion on how digital tools and evidence-based approaches can help cities better understand the relationship between urban environments and health outcomes.

Healthy Cities, developed by BAX, is also connected to the HORUS project through the Healthy Cities Generator, one of the project’s digital tools. The Generator helps urban planners, policymakers and health professionals visualise how urban design choices can influence health and well-being, supporting healthier and more informed decision-making.

The participation of Healthy Cities at WUF13 highlights the growing recognition of the role that urban environments, housing and digital innovation play in creating healthier and more resilient communities.
