After years of research, collaboration, pilot activities and learning, HORUS is approaching the end of its journey.
Since its launch, the project has worked to better understand the complex relationship between urban environments, health behaviours and non-communicable diseases (NCDs), with particular attention to vulnerable populations. Along the way, partners from across Europe have combined expertise in public health, urban environments, behavioural science, digital technologies and citizen engagement to explore how the places where we live can shape our health.
We have learned a great deal along the way. From understanding and characterising urban environments and exploring behavioural causal pathways, to working directly with citizens in three pilot cities, evaluating the impact of our interventions and translating what we have learned into practical guidance and recommendations.
Now, as HORUS prepares to officially conclude, it is time to bring this work together.
On 28 October 2026, the HORUS community will meet at the Manos Conference Centre in Brussels for the HORUS Final Event, an open day dedicated to sharing the project’s results, experiences and lessons learned and discussing how they can continue to support healthier urban environments beyond the lifetime of the project.
Final Event Agenda:
09:15–09:45 | Understanding Our Cities: People, Places & Urban Environments
How HORUS combined urban characterisation, community perspectives and participatory research across its pilot cities.
09:45–10:30 | From Design to Delivery: Lessons from Three HORUS Pilot Cities
What worked, what needed local adaptation, how communities were engaged, and what future cities can learn from implementation.
10:30–10:45 | Coffee Break

Be part of the final HORUS event
The HORUS Final Event is not only an opportunity to present what the project has achieved. It is also a chance to bring together the knowledge, experiences and people that have shaped HORUS and to consider how what we have learned can continue to contribute to healthier and more health-supportive cities after the project ends.
The event will be held in a hybrid format, so participants can join us either in Brussels or online. However, we particularly encourage you to join us in person to take part in the discussions, meet the HORUS partners and other participants, and share this final milestone with us.
Please note that in-person capacity is limited, so early registration is recommended.
Registration is now open.
